THE INSPIRATION FOR "STEPPING BEHIND THE CAMERA"

The Beginning

Sometimes in life, the things we are passionate about seem to find us, before we find them. This is true with myself and photography. Living with Cerebral Palsy, I had little hope to ever find something that I was any good at. However, in 2013 I decided to purchase a camera. I was looking for a hobby, and I had some experience with photography through the Yearbook class while in high school.

Starting out, photography was simply therapeutic for me...and honestly it still is! I would pick up the camera and go for walks, taking photos of anything that I found interesting along the way. I would then upload the photos to Facebook and share them with my family and friends. The positive feedback that I received was overwhelming. Everyone constantly commented that I had a natural talent and an "eye for photography!" The more comments that I received, the more my self-confidence grew...and I started to believe that what everyone was saying was indeed true!

However, my photography wouldn't be at the level it is at without the encouragement and support from my friends and family. They pushed me to create a Facebook page to share my photography with the world. One person in particular deserves special recognition for all her encouragement and enthusiasm...my closest friend, Nicole! She suggested that it may be a great way for me to express myself and to build confidence in myself.

Later in 2013, Nicole asked me to take some of her high school graduation photos. From there, my photography began to evolve from just a hobby, to creating lists of photo ideas and finding opportunities to get my work published!

I am currently focusing primarily on Automotive and Portrait photography. I am working with automotive websites and looking to expand my work into fashion photography.

I have been featured on multiple websites, in magazines, and in a calendar shoot, but am always looking to expand my photography. You could be one to help me with my photography future!
